Thunderbird Mobilizes Drilling Rig At Gordon Creek

Vancouver, British Columbia, October 17, 2007- Thunderbird Energy Corp. (TSX-V: TBD) (the "Company") today announced that a drilling rig has been mobilized to the Gordon Creek, Utah natural gas project to commence a 3 well drilling program, which is anticipated to take approximately one month. Thunderbird is the operator of the project and holds a 100% interest in the first 2 wells and a 50% working interest in the 3rd. All 3 wells are step outs from 3 existing producing wells that had initial production rates ranging from 1 mmcf/day to 2.5 mmcf/day.

"These are the first wells to be drilled by Thunderbird at Gordon Creek." stated Mike Worthington, Thunderbird's Vice-President of Operations. "We are very fortunate to have had the opportunity to review drilling, completion and production records of all of the previous wells drilled in the field. This experience, together with the knowledge gained from studying the massive Drunkard's Wash field next door, has been tremendously valuable as we designed the current drilling and completion programs. The next few weeks will be very exciting for Thunderbird and our shareholders."

Thunderbird also intends to mobilize a completion rig later this month to conduct workovers on certain of the producing and shut in wells in the field. The same rig will be available to handle the completions of the new wells.

Thunderbird Energy is a Canadian based oil and gas company with offices in Calgary and Vancouver that is focused on acquiring and developing untapped oil and natural gas opportunities, primarily in the United States. Thunderbird currently owns and operates the Gordon Creek natural gas field in Utah and holds a 50% working interest in a producing light oil project in Rush County, Kansas. Thunderbird's other holdings include a New Brunswick oil and gas exploration project adjacent to the Stoney Creek field. Thunderbird has pending agreements to substantially expand its Gordon Creek acreage and to acquire a large, high impact oil exploration project in Wyoming.
